You can get there by vehicle or taxi or bus. If you are catching bus, you have to walk from main road to National park and distance is 25km.

Hustai National park lies in the hill of the southern Khan Khentii mountain range about 95kms south west of Ulaanbaatar, which is surrounded by Forest Mountains. Hustai has unique landscape that features mountain steppe and steppe, also there are sand dunes representing Gobi of Mongolia and River wetlands. The Mongolian Government declared Hustai National Park as a Specially Protected Area in 1993, then the initiation of the reintroduction project of the Takhi to the Hustai Range in 1994. The Przewalski horse (or takhi in Mongolian) is only naturally surviving wild horse. The Takhi is the last surviving ancestor of the domestic horse. Takhi has been successfully reintroduced into the wild and has a light yellow coat and a short, stiff black mane. Each horse is approximately 250cm long, 146cm tall and weighs on average 300kg.

 

The national park covers 90.000 hectare area which has more 450 species of vascular plants, which are most for the traditional medicine and more than 80 species of lichens, 90 species of moss and 34 species of mushrooms.

And more than 40 species of mammals have been registered. Such as;  Red deer, Mongolian gazelle, Roe deer, Wild boar, Wild sheep, Ibex, Mongolian marmots, Grey wolves, Lynx, Pallas’ cat, Red fox, Corsican fox and Eurasian badger. And there are 217 species of birds include Golden eagle, Lammergeyer, Great bustard, Whooper swan, Black stork, Darien partridge and Little owl and 16 kinds of fish, 2 species of amphibians, and more than 380 species of insects, which are included 21 species of ants, 55 species of butterflies, 10 species of bush crickets and 29 species of grasshoppers in the unique landscape that features mountain steppe and steppe.

 

On the territory of Hustai National Park and it is butter zone there are many historical there are many historical monument ensemble of Ungut- famous with it is large number of man like figures, which belongs to 6-8 th century AD and many other sepultures, rectangular tombs and the ruin of old monastery.
