Ulaanbaatar city, the capital of Mongolia was established in 1639 in central Mongolia and was moved to its present location in 1778 after several resettlements by nomads. Now the capital is located in the right bank of Tuul River, surrounded by 4 sacred mountains. Until the Revolution of 1921, the city was made up of traditional felt yurts, but it developed into a modern European style city. Your visit will enable you to see the mixture of traditional felt yurts from ancient times, Soviet style of apartment blocks from Communist times and the modern style tall glass towers. Since almost half of the Mongolian population lives in Ulaanbaatar, it is an educational, economic, political and vital center of Mongolia.

Day 3-6

This extremely fresh water river begins from Khar Khyaruut mountain which belongs to Huvsgul National Park and flows through Siberian Taiga forest to the Eg river, one of the biggest river in Northern Mongolia. Uur river is rich in fish and the surrounding area is abundant with wildlife. Uur River usually floods in rainy months, July and August.

Taiga Region is a sub-arctic; evergreen coniferous forest of northern Eurasia located just south of the tundra and dominated by firs and spruces. But it does have millions of insects in the summertime. Birds migrate there every year to nest and feed. There are Lynx, brown bear, loose, wolf, fox etc in the forest of Taiga.
