Mongolia is a wonderful country for watching birds – the varied landscape and open wilderness means it is home to over 400 different species. On this trip we will give the opportunity to watch a wide variety of birds while also seeing the Central Mongolian highlights. We will take you through Khustai National park where the Asian wild horse lives, the oldest monastery in Mongolia – Erdenezuu and Elsen Tasarkhai where you can see a little of the Gobi desert. All this in beautiful open scenery, next to calm a dn quiet lakes offers you the best chance to see as many birds in their natural environment. Species that you may see include the Mongolian Lark, Mongolian Trumpeter Finch, Golden Eagle and Himalayan Vulture and many more.

Brief itinerary

Day 1. Arrive in Ulaanbaatar. Meet at the airport. Take a city tour. (L+D)

Day 2. Drive to Terelj National Park. Some birds that can be observed. (B+L+D)   

Day 3. Drive to Hustai National park. See Takhi, the wild horse. (B+L+D)

Day 4. Drive to Ugii Lake. Enjoy the lake by observing, swimming. (B+L+D)

Day 5. Drive to Arkhangai province. Some birds that can be observed. (B+L+D)

Day 6. Drive to Horgo Volcano. Take photo & near the Chuluut river. (B+L+D)

Day 7. Watching the lake birds by the Terkhiin Tsagaan lake. (B+L+D) 

Day 8. Drive to Tsenher hot spring. Have a bath in the spring water & relax. (B+L+D)  

Day 9. Drive to Karakorum. Visit to Erdenezuu monastery. (B+L+D)  

Day 10. Drive to Elsen Tasarhai sand dune. Visit to Erdene Hamba temple. (B+L+D)     

Day 11. Drive back to Ulaanbaatar. Take a city tour. (B+L+D)
